RCA Inspiration celebrates five wins at the 50th Annual GMA Dove Awards, with Kirk Franklin, Donald Lawrence, Le’Andria Johnson, and Koryn Hawthorne taking home Dove Awards in five categories this year. Garnering double wins, Gospel icons Kirk Franklin and Donald Lawrence each won two Dove Awards, with Johnson and Hawthorne winning one Dove Award apiece. Lecrae is the CEO and co-founder of several business ventures including Atlanta based, Reach Records, an independent music label he founded in 2004 with a partner, Ben Washer. “Building a record label from the ground-up has given me a deeper appreciation for what it takes to put out your music independently,” explains Lecrae. “Although I’m now partnered with a major label, I started out as an indy artist and still run an independent label. I wish technology like MXD was available when I started out.”
MXD is founded by Jacob “Biz” Morris, a Grammy Award-winning engineer and audio mixer. “Before MXD my inbox was flooded with requests for services, but at rates, I couldn’t commit to,” explains Morris. He shared the number of direct messages and emails requesting audio engineering services with Lecrae who astonished introduced him to Oust founder Dan Duncan to help create a solution. Through the Oust Labs Accelerator and startup studio program, Morris went from ideation to execution within three months. Phil Thornton Honored on the Billboard’s 40 Under 40

Phil Thornton, Senior Vice President and General Manager of RCA Inspiration, has been named one of Billboard’s “40 Under 40” honorees for 2019. The prestigious list, which is included in Billboard magazine’s issue dated September 28th, is comprised of top music executives under the age of 40 who are demonstrating exemplary leadership in their respective fields and helping to redefine the industry.

At RCA Inspiration, Thornton drives the day-to-day initiatives, manages business operations and establishes partnerships for the Nashville, TN based label. RCAI, the premiere label in gospel and urban inspirational music, is home to renowned superstar artists including Kirk Franklin, Travis Greene, Koryn Hawthorne, Israel Houghton, Le’Andria Johnson, Donald Lawrence, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp, and Kierra Sheard and will be releasing new albums from Greene and McClurkin later in 2019.

In addition to Thornton’s career in music, he is also an accomplished television and film producer, having executive produced the hit TV series, R&B Divas Atlanta, R&B Divas LA (TV One) and It’s A Mann’s World (BET) and films, A Boy. A Girl. A Dream: Love on Election Night and Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Miche’le. Additionally, he is actively involved in the entertainment industry at large and the community, serving on the boards of the Recording Academy’s Nashville chapter, the Gospel Music Association, the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) and Hope for Harvest. On being included among this elite group who are making monumental strides in the music business, Thornton says, “I am truly humbled to be recognized by Billboard in this way! Gene Moore Walking His Own Path

The consummate singer, Gene Moore is an unforgettable force to be reckoned with. His style is a mash up of old school charm and today’s urban flare. The man, Gene Moore, is much more than his vocal ability or his style. There’s a story that encompasses his journey, which led him to join label mate Brian Courtney Wilson on the “Just Be” Tour. Both of their paths cross giving their audiences a double shot of Jesus wrapped in coolness. Their stop in Chicago at The Promontory, Hyde Park’s spot for good eats, great vibes, and fantastic music, was nothing short of awesomeness.

Behind the buttery smooth vocals, Gene Moore possesses a well-rounded mindset that supersedes his years. Perhaps, the era in which his influences derive, Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway, contribute to his persona. Gene let his audience inside to know who he is as he testified of earlier on being newly married and losing his job.
