RCA Inspiration Celebrates Five Wins at the 2019 GMA Dove Awards
RCA Inspiration celebrates five wins at the 50th Annual GMA Dove Awards, with Kirk Franklin, Donald Lawrence, Le’Andria Johnson, and Koryn Hawthorne taking home Dove Awards in five categories this year. Garnering double wins, Gospel icons Kirk Franklin and Donald Lawrence each won two Dove Awards, with Johnson and Hawthorne winning one Dove Award apiece. Grammy-winning Icon Donnie McClurkin, A Different Song Album; Pre-order Available Now
Multiple GRAMMY®, Stellar, and Dove Award-winning Gospel icon Donnie McClurkin has unveiled his forthcoming album, A Different Song (CamDon Music/RCA Inspiration), available for pre-order now. A Different Song marks the eighth solo album released from the legendary singer, songwriter, and producer, and features the poignant singles “Not Yet” and “There Is God.” The album will be released on Friday, November 15th. McClurkin, who penned eight songs and recorded most of the album live, has created eleven tracks that offer hope, breakthrough, and encouragement including “Pour My Praise On You,” “Let It Go,” “His Ways,” and more. Phil Thornton Honored on the Billboard’s 40 Under 40
Phil Thornton, Senior Vice President and General Manager of RCA Inspiration, has been named one of Billboard’s “40 Under 40” honorees for 2019. The prestigious list, which is included in Billboard magazine’s issue dated September 28th, is comprised of top music executives under the age of 40 who are demonstrating exemplary leadership in their respective fields and helping to redefine the industry.
At RCA Inspiration, Thornton drives the day-to-day initiatives, manages business operations and establishes partnerships for the Nashville, TN based label. RCAI, the premiere label in gospel and urban inspirational music, is home to renowned superstar artists including Kirk Franklin, Travis Greene, Koryn Hawthorne, Israel Houghton, Le’Andria Johnson, Donald Lawrence, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp, and Kierra Sheard and will be releasing new albums from Greene and McClurkin later in 2019.
In addition to Thornton’s career in music, he is also an accomplished television and film producer, having executive produced the hit TV series, R&B Divas Atlanta, R&B Divas LA (TV One) and It’s A Mann’s World (BET) and films, A Boy. A Girl. A Dream: Love on Election Night and Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Miche’le. Additionally, he is actively involved in the entertainment industry at large and the community, serving on the boards of the Recording Academy’s Nashville chapter, the Gospel Music Association, the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) and Hope for Harvest. On being included among this elite group who are making monumental strides in the music business, Thornton says, “I am truly humbled to be recognized by Billboard in this way! Fred Hammond’s Festival of Praise Tour hits the Midwest
For the third year in a row, Fred Hammond has assembled a roster of artists, musicians and comedians to hit the road on his inspirational tour Festival of Praise. This year’s line up is nothing short of star power. Fred enlisted R&B turned Gospel artist Regina Bell, legendary Clark Sister Karen Clark Sheard, Israel Houghton known for his high-octane praise and worship, choir-master Hezekiah Walker, modern worshipper and newcomer Casey J and funny man Comedian Earthquake. The tour is rolling through the Midwest October 20 to 26 bringing a fresh wind of inspiration.

Talib Kweli’s music style served straight up
Legendary hip hop artist Talib Kweli speaks to the heart of the socially conscious. While some may find it hard to articulate the concerns that face the African American race, he sees the cause and effect of the systemic oppression as looking through a glass-made house. The masterful work of setting socially charged lyrics to melodic beats has been Talib Kweli’s forte over two decades. Chicago was graced with his genius during the 4th of July weekend with two sold out shows at the City Winery.
